A recent survey by HashKey Group predicts that Bitcoin could rise above $300,000 in 2025. The increase is expected to come from more institutional investments and growing acceptance in mainstream finance.

The Hong Kong-based digital asset company gathered insights from nearly 50,000 community members for its annual report.

Wall Street’s increasing involvement in crypto has been a major factor, with big financial firms starting to offer crypto-related services.

HashKey’s Chairman and CEO, Dr. Xiao Feng, described the crypto market as being on the verge of significant growth.

This comes after Bitcoin surpassed $100,000 on Wednesday, following the release of inflation and consumer price index (CPI) data. However, the market has seen ups and downs recently due to shifting expectations around economic data.

Key Predictions

HashKey Group believes Bitcoin’s status as "digital gold" will continue to strengthen, with the overall crypto market possibly reaching a $10 trillion valuation by the end of the year. Currently, the market is valued at about $3.64 trillion (according to CoinGecko).

Arthur Hayes, CIO of Maelstrom Fund, also expects a crypto market peak in mid to late March, citing better liquidity conditions.

HashKey predicts Ethereum will benefit from Wall Street’s involvement, with a potential price of $8,000 by year-end. It also highlights Security Token Offerings, exchange-traded funds, and Central Bank Digital Currencies as factors that could bring $3 trillion in new capital to the market.

Institutional Interest

The growing interest in crypto has been fueled by the approval of spot Bitcoin ETFs in the U.S. and corporate treasury strategies like those led by MicroStrategy.

Some countries are even considering holding Bitcoin as part of their national reserves.

Supporting Data

ARK Invest’s report for December 2024 supports these optimistic projections, noting that Bitcoin has historically performed well in the year after a halving event. Since 2025 is such a year, positive returns are expected.

While some market metrics show signs of overheating, ARK notes that long-term Bitcoin holders remain confident. Over 62% of Bitcoin’s supply hasn’t moved in over a year, signaling strong investor commitment.
