Nunchuck Wallet Adds Miniscript Support, Making Bitcoin More Flexible

Nunchuck Wallet has officially added support for Miniscript, giving users more flexibility and control over how they manage Bitcoin.

For those who don’t know, Miniscript is a programming language created by Bitcoin Core developer Pieter Wuille. It makes it easier and safer to build custom Bitcoin spending rules. With Miniscript, users can create scripts using common tools like timelocks, signature locks, and hashlocks, but in a simpler and more reliable way.

The benefit of Miniscript is that once you create a custom rule, you can be sure it will work exactly as expected.

Nunchuck now offers two ready-to-use templates:

• Decaying multisig: After a set time, fewer signatures are needed to spend, so funds won’t be lost if a key is gone.
• Expanding multisig: Over time, more keys can be added to approve a transaction. For example, it can start as 2-of-2 but later allow a 3rd key to sign.

Advanced users can also import their own custom Miniscript templates.

Miniscript works with both Native Segwit and Taproot wallets.

Currently supported hardware wallets include:

• Native Segwit Miniscript: Coldcard, Tapsigner, Blockstream Jade, Ledger
• Taproot Miniscript: Coldcard, Ledger

For now, MuSig2 with Miniscript only works with software keys.
