Jakarta - According to a study by Preply, around 40% of Gen Z cryptocurrency investors in the United States (US) lack confidence in their knowledge about cryptocurrency.

Quoted from Bitcoin.com, Monday (27/5/2024), this lack of confidence is even more pronounced among millennials (35%) and Gen X (32%). The study also revealed that 60% of US cryptocurrency investors "do not know what blockchain is."

Despite this, the data shows that 27% of those who have never invested in cryptocurrency express interest in taking a class to learn more.

When grouped by gender, this research found that 54% of men and 53% of women surveyed are interested in learning more about cryptocurrency. In terms of generational interest, Gen X has the highest proportion (57%) of individuals who want to learn more.

Gen Z, with 41% expressing interest in learning about cryptocurrency, has the lowest proportion of individuals who want to learn. The study also found varying interest in digital assets beyond cryptocurrency across generations.

For example, 12% of millennials surveyed reported having invested in non-fungible tokens (NFTs), compared to only 4% of Baby Boomers.

Commenting on the findings related to cryptocurrency investors' interest in NFTs and the metaverse, the survey report states: "Only 42% of survey respondents expressed confidence in their understanding of NFTs and the metaverse. This indicates opportunities for educating the public about this topic.

This also explains why only 11% are interested in investing in NFTs, while 32% are much more interested in joining the metaverse. However, the report notes that US residents who have invested in NFTs also tend to invest in cryptocurrency, suggesting this might be a first step in exploring other digital assets.
