LINE Introduces Web3 Dapps to Boost Adoption in Asia

LINE NEXT, the Web3 arm of LINE, one of Asia's top messaging apps, has launched its first set of decentralized apps (Dapps) for LINE users. This move aims to make Web3 more popular across Asia.

These Dapps, called Mini Dapps, include games, social media services, and other Web3 content. They run on Kaia, a blockchain created by LINE NEXT and Kakao, South Korea’s leading messaging app.

LINE also launched a Dapp Portal, a platform that helps users explore Dapps and trade items like NFTs.

The first Mini Dapps include:

  • "Captain Tsubasa -RIVALS-", a game based on the famous Japanese manga.
  • Superz, a healthcare and wellness app.

LINE NEXT plans to release over 1,000 Dapps this year.

This follows Telegram’s success last year when Dapps on its platform, like Notcoin and Hamster Kombat, helped the TON blockchain grow its user base from 4 million to 128 million in just a year.

Youngsu Ko, CEO of LINE NEXT, said:
"For Web3 to become truly popular, it must be easy to access and use. Mini Dapps on LINE Messenger will lead the way for Web3 adoption in Asia."

LINE is a major messaging platform in Japan, Taiwan, and Thailand, with about 200 million users globally (as of a 2024 report by Chosun Ilbo).
