The Web3 entertainment platform T-Rex raised $17 million in its pre-seed funding round, which is its total funding so far. Investors include Portal Ventures, North Island Ventures, Framework Ventures, Arbitrum Gaming Ventures, ArkStream Capital, Mindful Venture Capital, Hypersphere, SNZ, and Arche Fund.

T-Rex's goal is to reward people who watch content online, like on X, TikTok, or YouTube, with cryptocurrency. To do this, T-Rex uses a "proof-of-engagement" system. Users download a browser extension that tracks their engagement. This extension uses secure technology (zkTLS) to verify data between traditional and Web3 platforms while protecting user privacy.

To earn rewards, users need to click on a "popcorn" icon that appears on their screen while watching content. The more they click, the more points they earn, which can be converted into crypto. Over time, the system learns user preferences and suggests more relevant content and decentralized apps.

T-Rex plans to release its browser extension by the end of the summer. The company’s co-founder, Allen Ng, shared that while many blockchain projects focus on scalability, T-Rex aims to solve the problem of disconnected and confusing user experiences. Ng emphasized that their blockchain remains invisible, allowing users to easily turn their online activity into rewards.

By the end of this year, T-Rex hopes to work with over 100 content creators, grow its media partnerships, and enhance collaborations in intellectual property.

T-Rex is developed by Everest Venture Group, an Asian publishing and venture firm, and is built on Arbitrum Orbit.
