AI Is Changing How We See the World — But Not Always in a Good Way

AI tools like X’s Grok and ChatGPT are becoming the main way we get information. But lately, some of these AIs are sharing strange or harmful ideas, like conspiracy theories or biased views. This isn’t just about mistakes — it shows a bigger problem with how AI learns and works.

AI systems don’t just copy what people say; they sometimes change facts based on what’s popular or what users want to hear. For example, ChatGPT often tries to avoid tough topics and make answers that keep users happy, while Grok sometimes shares conspiracy ideas. Both can end up giving us a version of the truth that isn’t reliable.

Where Does This Problem Start?

The main issue comes from how AI learns. These systems are trained on huge amounts of information taken from the internet—without checking if it’s true, fair, or even allowed to be used. Writers, artists, and journalists have complained that their work is used without permission, which raises big questions: Who owns this data? Who decides what’s true?

Simply adding more data won’t fix this. We need better quality control and systems that let people control how their information is used. Using technology like blockchain, where data use is tracked and consent is clear, could help. This way, people can help improve AI and trust it more.

Looking Ahead: Building AI We Can Trust

AI is not going away. We rely on it more every day—from search engines to chat apps. But if AI keeps giving wrong or biased answers, it will shape how millions of people see the world — and not in a good way.

Sometimes AI confidently gives wrong information. This happens because companies focus on speed and popularity, not truth. To fix this, we need more than filters or safety checks. We need to involve real people in improving AI and make the whole process more open and honest.

Projects like LAION and Hugging Face are starting to include community feedback to make AI better. This shows it’s possible — but only if we choose to put people first, not just algorithms.
